I made this Card in a Box as an entry to a colour challenge. I don't own the colours they listed so I went ahead and used the closest I had. I'm waiting to hear back if they will accept my entry then I will add the link. It is amazing the change of colour when you heat emboss. All of the orange card stock was the same colour to start with I just embossed the petite flowers.
Colours I used: Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Sarah Sand and Whisper white.
I embossed the Always Artichoke background with Spring Floweres embossing folder. The Old Olive leaves were cut using Little Leaves and outlined with Always Artichoke. Small flowers are Petite Petals then the matching punch was used to cut them. I then Versamarked and using clear embossing powder, heat embossed them. The butterflies are suspended using very stiff acetate.
Ribbon is Old Olive (now retired)
Butterflies are Papillion Potpourri and Elegant Butterfly punch.
The brad is from the Antique Brads collection and I added a little Linen thread.
These take a long time to make but they are lots of fun.
The dimensions for this card are 15cm x 29.5cm. Score @ 7cm, 14cm,21cm, and 28cm turn and score the full length @ 7cm . Just a tip only fold down the sides and front, don't fold down the back panel as you need it to stand up I always add another layer of embossed card stock or a layer of DSP anyway and also a long panel of white or vanilla to the outside of the back to write on.
Happy Stampin'

ReplyDeleteHI Donna, this is lovely, I just saw your entry on JAI where I also have an entry, and I too did a similar card in a box with thes colours (though I wasn't able to enter two cards). Are your leaves form the little leaves sizzlets? and have you drawn around them after you have made them, because they also look like the leaves from simply sketched? very effective, love the embossing too. cheers, Liz
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, yes the leaves are little leaves and I drew around them with Always Artichoke. I haven't seen simply sketched what is it? i have been looking at Cecile Ortiz's work for a long time now and she draws on her leaves and I love the reality it helps give to the leaves. I only found out last week that you could put in more than one entry. The only issue I had was that Linky doesn't work twice so I email the second entry if I have one. This week it didn't get added in time. I'm over the moon at receiving the place of honour. makes me want to get started on this weeks oval challenge. Happy Stampin'

ReplyDeleteHello Dona. Just spotted your BEAUTIFUL card on Pinterest. 5 years later!!!! My neighbour loves yellow and orange flowers and this would make a wonderful card for her. But I can't find any mention of how you made the large flower. Was that a punch?
ReplyDeleteI just saw this post and I love the eye catching colors and the design!
